Full Service Sodium Ammonia Fluoropolymer Etching

Creating the strongest bondable surfaces on any fluoropolymer

ISO 9001:2015 certified and with over 60 years experience, we are a leader in sodium ammonia fluoropolymer etching, ensuring you receive the long lasting, durable, uniform surface modification you require. When compared to sodium naphthalene processes, our sodium ammonia etching have been proven to be the preferred solution with its superior performance and design to give you the bondable surfaces you need on any fluoropolymer quickly and efficiently.

Whatever type of virgin or filled fluoropolymer you are using, (PTFE, PFA, FEP, ETFE, PCTFE, PVDF, ECTFE, etc) our innovative etching techniques deliver the precise surface treatment required for an excellent bond every time. Treatment can be accomplished on one or more surfaces, or selectively within close tolerances on films, sheets, tubing or other three-dimensional shapes. Our compounds react with only the surface layer of fluoropolymers ensuring dimension and other properties remain largely unaffected.

We can treat one or more surfaces — including 1 sided or 2 sided etching on continuous skived rolls and flat sheets, full immersion selective spot etching on compound contours of three-dimensional parts. Our equipment can accommodate most commonly used formats, including:

  • Film rolls up to 50” wide
  • .001" - .155" thick (tapes)
  • Narrow tapes and thin-walled tubing
  • Irregularly shaped items as large as 5 cubic ft in volume, up to 48” x 96” x 3/4”
  • Slitting & sheeting

  • Fluoropolymer Films
  • Tubing
  • Wire
  • Sheets
  • Molded/Machined Parts
  • Printed Circuit Boards (PCB)
  • Bearing Tapes
  • Seals
  • Fabrics

      Lead Time/On Time Delivery

We achieved 100% on-time delivery in 2016. We understand that if we’re late with our products, you’re late with yours, so we implement a range of advanced manufacturing processes to ensure timely delivery. Our usual lead time, depending on the complexity, is 3-5 business days after we receive your material.

      Storing Recommendations for Etched Surfaces

Etched surfaces of fluoropolymers virtually have an unlimited shelf life as long as they are handled and stored properly. The proper storage conditions are:

      • Clean – So there is no material to tie-up bond sites
      • Dry – So there are no –OH molecules to bond to
      • Cool (less than 100ºF (38ºC)) - higher temps cause molecules to migrate to the surface where they can tie-up bonds
      • Away from UV light
